Re: btdt moms...

My Chat Icon was born at 7lbs 8oz (so pretty average) but lost 1lb in 3 days. So, maybe she was a little on the small side.

She wore newborn for 2-3 months. During the 3rd month I could start wearing some 0-3 but they were long on her legs and just a little big. After 4 months though, she was pretty true to size (wearing 6 months at 6 months, 9 months at 9 months, etc.) When she passed 12 months, she actually fit better in 18 month clothing. Now, at 3, she wears 4T.

Re: btdt moms...

Both of my kids only wore newborn sizes for one-two weeks from their dates of birth. They were both in the 7 lbs range (and lost weight too). For my kids I found height was the factor for clothing to fit rather than weight at every single size transition. They were both in the 21 inch range at birth.

My ds was 6lbs 15oz and 21.5" long at birth. We used the newborn size for 3ish weeks. He out grew the length before he out grew the width.

I think THIS is typically the issue with WHEN the baby will out grow the NB size, not the weight.

MY DD was born at 21 inches, 8lbs, 5oz - she was only 1 oz less the day we left the hospital and continued to grow at a nice pace. She was only in that newborn size a week or so.
It really all depends - it's so hard to know until your LO is born since every baby is different.

My DD was born at 7.4, a week later she weighed 8.4 and at 5 weeks she weighed 9.11.

She was in nb clothes for about 6 weeks, I was surprised she was in them for so long since a lot of people on here said their kids barely wore nb sizes. I especially loved the side snap outfits and rompers during this stage because they are so easy to get on and off.

both of my kids were 10+ pounds and 22+ inches. I think I stretched one NB outfit on DS#1, but it pulled so much...I never used NB again for either one.

They both only fit into 0-3 for 2 weeks.

My DS was born 8lbs 4 oz, and did not lose any weight in the hospital. He was in newborn for about two weeks. At that point his 0-3 stuff was still a bit large on him, but he looked like a stuffed sausage in NB clothes Chat Icon
