Keepsakes from childhood

When you moved into your new home, did you bring keepsakes and sentimental stuff from your childhood with you? I am not a hoarder by any means, but I have plenty of things that mean something to me that I just can't see myself throwing out (diaries from my teen years, figurines my mom bought me every birthday, etc).

I don't really want to clutter up my new home with this stuff but my dad has mentioned he'd like me to empty out my old bedroom. I guess I could box it up and put it in my attic. We don't have a basement at the new house.

Just wondering what other people did with sentimental stuff.

Mine is still all at my moms house too! I keep saying I'm going to go through it and she politely mentions it every once in awhile! LOL When I do eventually bring it over I'm hoping to display some of it and was hoping that I'd have a girl one day to pass it to! Otherwise the rest will go in the basement, attic or garage.

I purchased a decorative box from Home Goods and have all of my paper achievements in the box. DD has a few of my dolls. I have some things at my parent's house and so far they have not told me to take them. I did go through a lot of them and either tossed or donated quite a bit of stuff. My mom uses my old bedroom as her office.

Yes, I have a ton of stuff. Most of my keepsakes are stuffed animals and journals. I have a bin for journals, photo albums, etc., so they go in there. I have some of the stuffed animals decorating the office ( a lot of them are TY beanie babies... so I'm just telling myself that I'm displaying my "collectibles" Chat Icon ). I'm going to buy a hammock and put some others in the den.

I have a couple of games from when I was little in our closet, books on the bookshelves, and a blackboard in my office.

I have a few rubbermaid bins in the attic with photo albums, yearbooks, stuffed animals, and happy holiday Barbie dolls. I also have a collection of Disney Snowglobes stashed away that if/when I have a daughter, she'll get those.

I also have a couple of boxes of photos, yearbooks and other school stuff in my attic. I gave most of my toys and books to my kids over the years and I donated the rest. My stepdaughter has my vanity from my bedroom at my dads house in her room.
I've been living on my own for a very long time now, but when I first moved out I had my jewelry box and other Knicks knacks from my moms house in my bedroom.

Re: Keepsakes from childhood

Well, our two married Daughters still have a ton of stuff at my place. Deb really doesn't have room for it, but now that Donna has an attic, maybe she wants some of her stuff. I'm waiting to see if Deb gets pregnant, and if she has a Daughter, she might want some of her childhood toys. Recently though, I'm thinking that a good way that preserves memories and gets rid of the clutter, is to take pics of the toys or whatever, then give them away or sell them. I prefer giving away. How many Barbie dolls do I need around here? And they are so in need of a new hairdo!!!! Chat Icon Mary
