OIL - How much do you pay and who do you use?

We just signed with Slomins for $325/month at $3.49/gallon. We have about an 1800 sq ft house.

This seems like a lot to me and I just wanted some perspective on what's "normal."

ETA: this was a budget plan. Can you also mention whether you do budget or just pay on fill up, and how often and how much you pay per fill up?

Sorry...trying to get a handle on this and it's all new to us. But $325/month seems too high.

That sounds pretty similiar to what we locked in on about a month ago - with a different company - except we locked at 3.69

Like you, we went with a budget plan, have about the same square footage and I agree, I agree with you - I feel it's a high monthly charge, especially since its just me and DH.

We'll just bank on receiving a nice refund next year

Are you new to the home? Is that for 12 months?

They are going to base your budget plan on an estimate, most likely higher than what you will use, if you have no previous history with them. When we first purchased our house, we signed with the same company the previous owners used and they set up our plan based on their usage for the year. We didn't use as much, so by the end of the year we didn't have to pay for a few months.

You can call and ask if they can lower your budget plan. Our house is smaller (1400 square feet) and we used roughly 700 gallons last year. I don't use the budget plan anymore because I like not having to pay all summer and hate giving them money upfront. But there are benefits to having a smaller monthly payment in the winter (some winter months we get 2 deliveries). HTH

that is about right.
you can also try CODFeul where you pay cash for the delivery. You can save
a bit there also, but u might not be able to back out of yr plan. you would have to check.

Our budget plan last year with Petro was $270 a month. It started out higher but when we started to build up a surplus that exceeded delivery costs I called and asked them to adjust it. If you don't have a history with them they probably used an average amount based on square footage. We just got our final bill for the year and it was $170 to pay off the balance. The budget is based 11 months too so we won't have another bill until the new contract kicks in this Fall.
