Is it ok for me to go to hospital to visit
My FIL just got diagnosed with prostate cancer and is scheduled for surgery to have it removed on the 27th of this month. I will be 7 months pregnant then. Is it safe for me to go to the hospital to visit him, or should I wait until he comes home? How risky is it that I will catch something since it's not the maternity ward? What do you ladies think? I was going to call my doctor to check when it gets closer, but thought I'd see if anyone knew the answer or was in this situation and had any advice. Thanks!!

You should be ok, but if he is getting radiation as treatment, I would say no.

As someone who had daily exposure as a pregnant healthcare worker with many pregnant coworkers with very sickly patients, my opinion it is totally ok as long as you wash your hands after touching anything. Do what you feel comfortable with For FIL

It's fine. Think of all the hospital nurses (and doctors) that get pregnant themselves, they don't stop going to work.

I work on an oncology unit as an RN and I'm still working at 37 weeks! I'm fine, you'll be fine. Even if someone's getting chemo I can go in the room, I just can adjust the pump or anything. And we don't do in-patient radiation, so I can't comment on that.
