Has anyone ever done a cruise from NY in late October?
or would you? I'm debating NCL to Bermuda but am not sure about the hurricane like weather?
DH and I have been on numerous cruises and generally don't get sea sick, I'd hate to start.

We did a cruise in early October. The 9th-16th but to the Eastern Caribbean. We had no problems. We have also done a cruise to Bermuda but in August (still Hurricane season) and was fine also. The only time I got sick was a September cruise and we went around a hurricane.

Unfortunately week to week you never know if you're going to be the unlucky ones. I would chance it, just bring some bonine, dramamine etc.

I've done it and would do it again. The only issue/chance you take is that it could be a little chilly for a day or two leaving and coming back to NY. I don't mind that though because there's always plenty to do on the ship. And as far as getting sick, I don't think it'll be any worse in October than any other month. The only time I came close to getting sea sick was in February in the Caribbean (I think we were near Antigua and had something crazy like 30 foot waves).
Even though it is hurricane season, I'd still go for it. The absolute worst thing that happens is, if a hurricane is in the ship's path, they will change the itinerary or their path. I say, go for it!!

We did one in 2009 that left on October 25th (Norwegian Dawn). We had a fantastic time, no issues at all, but another poster was on the same exact cruise a week prior and had a horrible time with the motion of the boat.

We've taken 2 in early November. One left and came back to NY (Carribean). Everything was fine, no seasickness or hurricanes. The other one we did a transatlantic and I got sick one day when they were very bad waves on the way back to NY. I think you will be fine though.

Re: Has anyone ever done a cruise from NY in late October?
i went on one with my family in october when i was 10 years old to bermuda... we passed through a storm one night and it was absolute misery. luckily the rest of the week was beautiful weather.
dh and i went on one, i think it was about 3 years ago now... it went to bermuda, tortola and st thomas. there was one night where passing through rough weather, i did not feel well at all - and when we got to bermuda, it was, if not a hurricane, as close as it gets, for the entire day. the rest of the week's weather was decent.
it's hit or miss. you never know.
