HSG Test ? *Update*

I am having an HSG test today and I am such a baby when it comes to pain...should I take some pain medication? What does it feel like? Is there any pain after?

Take ibuprofen 1/2 before the test. My place told me 400mg. I am having one tomorrow, but have had one in the past and didn't have any discomfort.

I was told to take 2 Aleve beforehand, but I forgot to. It is intense cramping when the dye is being injected, but hen subsides. I did not have any pain afterwards.

NOTE: Bring a light pad/pantyliner. The ink starts to leak out and will make a mess, it happened to me.

I agree. Nothing worse than period cramps and def. bring a liner.

I was told to take 2 advil about 30 minutes prior.

I was SO scared, but it didn't hurt much at all, some cramping for like 30-45 seconds. My tubes were clear.

I went on my lunch break adn then went back to work all day. Definitely a panty liner and probably like 4-5 hours later I had some light AF type cramping.

Overall my typical AF cramps are way worse than this was! Try to not be nervous it is over with so quickly.

I took advil and xanax about a half an hour before the test.
I didnt feel anything and also went back to work after.
Ive heard that it definitely hurts more when there is a blockage.

Lots of luck!!!

Sometimes there is an invisible blockage of cells and so the dye clears it out and people get pregnant right away afterwards, I am hoping this is the case for you!!!

Well it was a bit painful when they were pumping the dye in...like 2 cramps which lasted for 10 seconds then went away...the pain meds helped a bit. It went quick which was good...the doc said that everything looked fine but I need to wait to see the results...

the only part that was a bit annoying...maybe its me but the nurse asked me how long I was TTC and I said only a month and she said "why are you in here so early?" I told her I have underlying infertility ...maybe I am sensitive but if a doctor sends a patient to have something checked no matter what there is cause...oh well

You're answer to that nurse should have been "nunya ******... Nunya g*d d*mn business"!!!!
I can't stand the constant judging that goes on from these nurses.
Hand me a gown, take my blood pressure and send the doctor in. Keep your comments to yourself!!!
