1-year Frozen Wedding Cake Question

My wedding cake has been in the freezer for a year.

How long do I need to have it in the fridge before it is defrosted and "edible"?

I think we just defrosted ours overnight... but I honestly don't remember. The only thing we actually ate was the icing.. the cake was nasty!

We put ours in the fridge 2 days before we wanted to eat it and it was perfect!

We were traveling out of state so it was in the fridge for a few days before we ate it. Our had fondant (NASTY!!!) but the cake part was as moist and delicious as the day we got married. Maybe it was the nasty fondant that protected it?Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think so, because the same thing happened for our cake. The fondant was awful, but underneath the cake was perfect!
