How to survive packing a house?
Any tips/tricks? I have 40% of the house packed and in boxes... Tonight I intend on going through my garage (which leaves the sunroom, storage room, laundry room, attic and den)... I have about 2 weeks before our move... (I also am doing this alone with a 1 y/o running a muck) Any tips/tricks to get it done? TIA

Re: How to survive packing a house?
I have a 3 and 4 year old and I did most of the packing at night once they were in bed. I'd stay up every night until 1am. I was exhausted!!! Other times I had grandma come and play with them so I could get stuff done. I also took a few days off from work while they were in camp (I only work a few days a week and don't have vacation time, so I didn't do that much.)
I packed up all the stuff I don't use often first (basement, toys that haven't been touched in months, garage, extra linens, dishes, cookware, etc.) I left the kids plastic dishes and bought the solo plates and cups. Left a few coffee mugs and pots that I use the most. I packed up all the cleaning supplies but left the box on the dining room table open and grab stuff as I need it.
I packed my nightstands, books, dvd's etc. Anything that I didn't need for 2 weeks. I was pretty much fully packed 3 days before closing. However for me, we've been delayed 4 times now and I've been suffering living wiht NOTHING for a month now
Good luck! Recruit help if you can. Even if its just to play with your DC.

Keep a change of clothes/shoes for after your move.
I mark those boxes with BIG X on them. I do one for clothes/shoes that we will need right away after moving. Health product/toothbrush, etc..
Or prepare a suitcase of stuff you will need right away after moving. You may not find your clothes/shoes, etc... after you move.

Re: How to survive packing a house?
Instead of writing the contents of each box on the top, I wrote in big letters the room the box should be placed in (Basement, office, Bedroom etc) and a number. Then in a notebook I made a new page for each room and detailed all of the items that were in the box. You should also write the number not just on the top of the box but the sides as well. That way when you are looking for box #5 you'll know its buried underneath box #7 and #9.
I did this when I moved recently and it was helpful to me and to my movers.
