Traveling to Europe - Passpost and Photo ID
Hi,
Has anyone recently traveled to Europe..specifically Ireland or the UK?
Is a passport sufficient or do the airlines ask for another photo ID?
Thanks

you must have a passport for travel to UK and Ireland. you do not need any other ID, unless you are renting a car, then you need to show your American driver's license.
ETA: airlines do not ask for any other ID.

Re: Traveling to Europe - Passpost and Photo ID
passport is always the absolute best form of ID for anywhere.
like the PP said, unless you're renting a car, a passport is really the only photo ID you need. when we were in the UK we really didn't need to show ID except for when I checked into the hotel. otherwise it wasn't necessary except when we were checking in for the flight or entering/exiting a country.

You need a passport, they won't ask for anymore ID. I travelled from the UK to JFK yesterday.

You only valid ID in Europe is your passport. Nothing else if valid.
Your driving licence might not be enough to rent a car if you need one. You are supposed to have an international driving licence.

The only other thing I can think of is if the airline requires the credit card you used to book your flights. It's not a form of ID per se, but something you may need to have with you to leave the country.
