Name Dilemma
I don't know what to do!! We have 4 weeks untill arrives and we are now without a name. We were 100% decided on one but my grandfather passed away this past weekend and in the Jewish religion it is custom to name the child using the deceased grandparents initial - "M" in this case. We were already using the middle name for DH's grandfather. If we do this we're starting all over and we really can't decide on one name using the letter M that we both like. What should we do

Re: Name Dilemma
I'm Jewish too, so I know about the tradition. While it's a lovely idea to name your child after your grandfather, it's not necessary right now. You might have more children, you might have siblings/cousins who will have children in the future, and your grandfather will probably be honored. Will your parents be upset if you don't use an "M"? Is anyone insisting on it?
Or - is it possible to use your grandfather's Hebrew name as your daughter's Hebrew name? (or a feminine version of his Hebrew name?)

I think my family would be upset. I was also close with my grandfather and he was my last living grandparent. I am having a baby name so we could use the M for the hebrew name but I'm not sure that would fly. I really want to honor him but if we can't decide on a name I don't think it's going to happen. If we were having a boy we already had an M named picked out too.
