When did u start the nursery?

I am only 20 weeks but we are already thinking about starting the nursery. DH is so excited that he can't wait! (it's pretty cute ... Lol). I know u can really start anytime but wondering when anyone else began. Thanks!!

Then I will work on the finishing touches. Shower is in two weeks so I will have it basically all set up before I get all our gifts.

Re: When did u start the nursery?

I'm 28w. DH ripped up the carpeting last week. He's putting down laminate flooring. We're also getting new windows put in sometime in the next cpl weeks (just waiting for the order to come in). Then it gets painted. Furniture should be in in September. I'm freaking a little though that it's not gonna get done quickly enough...

Re: When did u start the nursery?

I started early (as soon as I found out sex around 18-19w). We started early cause we wanted to focus on getting bulk of important room done as we are doing house renovations for other rooms as well (ripping up carpet putting in laminant flooring and replacing molding).

Furniture isn't delivered yet and still some finishing touches to be had but its 90 percent done now at 26w

Re: When did u start the nursery?

We started early probably around 12 weeks. The room had black carpet in it and we just wanted to start ripping it up. We are getting hard wood floors put down. My husband had to do a lot of things to the room since we never did anything with it when we moved in and it needed much more work then we ever thought. We did not paint until we found out we were having girls.

We had the room painted when I was 28 weeks. We are now working on it, furniture, curtains, closet and organization at 32 weeks. It should be complete by the time I am 34 weeks.

Re: When did u start the nursery?

DH was deployed for 6 months and didn't return until I was 31 weeks.

I cleared out the room for him but he didn't get to start on it until I was 32 weeks. He worked from the moment he got off work until he went to bed and 2 weekends straight on it. At 34 weeks we finished it!

Re: When did u start the nursery?

We emptied over the course of the first 20 weeks. Painted at 20 weeks. Had both cribs around then also. We did the closet at 22 weeks, got the dresser at 23. and now at 24 im waiting for shelves. I'm watching myself get less and less functional every day so I'm glad we started early. Also, the first out of 2 showers is this weekend!

I am 19 weeks and we are starting this week. DH is cleaning out the spare room and next week the new carpet will be put down. I am nesting big time though so I feel like it should have been started weeks ago.

Re: When did u start the nursery?

With DD and DS, we started as soon as we found out the gender.

Since we are not finding out this time, we'll do it when I get home. I don't want a gender neutral room so we'll have to wait. The baby will be in a bassinette in our room for a few weeks anyway, so no major rush.

I would love if DH painted while I was still at the the hospital-we shall see.

We are using our guest room as the nursery and are just getting rid of the furniture set this weekend. Then we have to do a little configuration with closets and put in new carpeting. I'm hoping the renovations will be finished by the time the furniture is in and before my shower in September.

ETA: I'm 26 weeks and I hope we're mostly done by the time I'm 32 weeks.Chat Icon

Re: When did u start the nursery?

I'm only 12 weeks but we're actually starting a little today...

We moved in in April and this was our spare room, haven't done anything in it...thank GOD DH happened to trip in the room and catch himself on the wall under the A/C, because the AC was installed incorrectly, water was coming in, and the one wall was rotted out, otherwise we would have never found it! So we have to repair that wall, remove the AC, add siding to the outside where the AC was...it's a nightmare but glad we found it before my child lived in there...

So fortunately DH is a carpenter, we have alot of "other" work to do that has to be done nursery or not...we're also building a closet for me in our master that will go into the nursery a little, so we gotta open that wall up and do that, and I also want to open up th ebaby's closet so it has 2 door access (it's really deep but only 1 regular door!! makes half of it hardly functional)

So we have lots of structural work to do before we start setting it up for baby...

so I'm actually getting ready (once the nausea passes) to clear out the room and the closet, so that DH can start ripping the carpet out when he gets home tonight...

Re: When did u start the nursery?

I am 21 weeks and we started pretty much after we found out it's a boy 2 weeks ago. We are using our guest room as the nursery so we have a lot of work ahead. We just ordered the furniture and picked out the bedding this week. I've slowly started organizing the bedrooms so that we can completely clear the room out. Once that is done in the next 2-3 weeks, DH can paint. We are also in the process of finishing the basement at the same time Chat Icon

Re: When did u start the nursery?

We are slowly and i mean slowly cleaning out the spare bedroom... i am 23 weeks.

The walls are already a yellowish color, so we may just leave it that color. We are getting the furniture afer the baby is born since it will be white for a girl and chester for a boy.

The baby will be in a bassinet/craddle in the begining, so it all works out!

Re: When did u start the nursery?

we started ours when we moved into our new home @ 34 weeks Chat Icon

we had to remove carpet, sand and stain wood floors, paint, add lights etc. and it took less than 3 weeks. We had all our furniture on hold since about 25 weeks.
all we have left is an area rug and curtains.

good luck!

Re: When did u start the nursery?

My shower was at 32 wks. So after that (34 wks) we started things. The nursery was the spare bedroom so we had to move the furniture into the third bedroom. Then we cleaned the wood floors windows and put up new wood blinds. Then I washed all of the baby clothes the furniture was delivered and then we put everything in. Bedding, monitors, shelving pictures, curtains etc. So happy with it! Done finally by 38 wks.

Re: When did u start the nursery?

The nursery was our 'attic'. We rent a three bedroom and don't have storage so we used the third as an attic for everything. I slowly started sorting, throwing away, moving things to my parents about a month ago. Just have about 4 more boxes of DHs stuff that he needs to go through. I need to get rid of two pieces of furniture (they're probably going in the trash very soon).

Then my MIL offered to have it painted for us. The carpet is already brand new. We are getting a bedroom set from my DHs deceased grandma. Crib from my brother. I got the comforter set I wanted on clearance for $50. Just need to decorate and I am SO excited to start to do that.
