Mexico
Does anyone know if there are any brides from LIW or LIF in Mexico right now for their honeymoon or for vacation? Danielle's parents are there right now. They called this morning to tell us the resort they were staying at is busing them to a shelter. They got there on tuesday and are supposed to be leaving on tuesday....but if the storm hits Cancun where it actually hit I think already, we dont see that happeneing because the air port is in Cancun...
Danielle and I are supposed to be going to mexico next month......ugh. Scott

Re: Mexico
We are going to the Mayan Riveria on Monday and I'm nervous! Not that the Hurricane will still be there, but that there will be damage. It's basically hitting tonight so I hope that any damage is already cleaned up/taken care of by this time next week. With all the tropical storm activity that's been going on though, who knows what may come!! Keep your fingers crossed for us!!

Re: Mexico
this is the latest.
Hurricane Emily pounded Mexico's Caribbean coast last night as thousands of panicked tourists fled beach resorts or squeezed into shelters to escape its destructive winds and torrential rains. Emily made landfall on the Yucatan just north of Tulum, Mexico, around 2:30 EDT this morning. The northern eyewall of the storm passed directly over Cozumel, likely doing extensive damage. With winds reaching 135mph, Emily knocked out power and whipped up huge waves along the Maya Riviera. Emily is moving W/NW at 17 Mph with 110 Mph Winds. Emily is expected to emerge into the Gulf of Mexico about Mid-Day. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Eastern Coast of the Yucatan Peninsula from Chetumal Northward to Cabo Catoche, then Westward and Southward to Campeche. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Belize from Belize City Northward to the Belize - Mexico Border. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Mexico from Cabo Rojo Northward to the Texas Border. A Hurricane Watch is in effect along the South Texas Coast from Brownsville to Baffin Bay. All interests in the Southern Gulf of Mexico as well as in Southern Texas should monitor hurricane advisories.
Hurricane Emily, crossing Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, is poised to push into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico shortly. Satellite imagery indicates the eye of Emily is just now crossing the coast of the northern Yucatan Peninsula a short distance ENE of Merida. Emily lost some strength churing over the peninsula last night, but is expected to reintensify as it swirls WNW over the gulf today. The next landfall is expected along the northern Mexican Gulf Coast Tuesday night. By that time, Emily could be a major hurricane (winds in excess 110 mph) again. Hurricane warnings remain in effect along coasts of the Yucatan from Chetumal on the east side of the peninsula northward to Cabo Catoche then westward and southward to Campeche on the west side of the peninsula. Hurricane watches are now posted along the northern Mexican and southern U. S. Gulf Coasts from Cabo Rojo, Mexico, northward to Baffin Bay, Texas. Brownsville, Texas, is included in the watch area.
