things to do...
i am off of work for two weeks and looking for awesome things to do with the kids, 7, 4 and 8 months. Any suggestions? We go to the beach, the park, we went to the children's museum, sesame place, splish splash... Any other suggestions?

Yup - me! I was about Joseph's age at the time. We have pictures of us feeding "reindeers" in our psychedelic 70's pants! I'll have to scan the picture so you can get the full laugh over it.
I was going to suggest the Aquarium in Riverhead, LI Children's Museum, hit the local fire department to see the trucks & talk to the firemen.

OMG i've been there too! I was probably around 10 yo, I remember touching the "north Pole" (an ice pole)and thinking "its August why isn't thing melting!" LOL 
Its about a 5 hour drive from LI though I wouldn't go for the day, we stayed at my Aunts in North Creek near Gore Moutain.
You could do the Land of Make Believe as a day trip.

Also, Mountain Creek (the old Action Park) is great and a day trip from LI - or they have a great resort too if you wanted to stay over.
I'm taking Aidan in 3 weeks

Also the Coney Island Aquarium is nice -- I've taken my class there!
I second the Ecology Center -- I used to live near there and it's awesome.
