Menopur & Gonal-f: Has anyone's insurance ever...

denied one stim medication because a different one was approved (ordered at the same time)? My protocol will be both menopur and gonal-f. IMO the office didn't order enough gonal-f for me, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Anyway, I was told this morning that the menopur is STILL under review because the gonal-f was approved and they feel the medications are too similar, so they may not cover the menopur. I explained to them if that was the case they should've made that determination at the same time as the gonal-f b/c if so I'm guessing I'll need a higher dose of gonal-f to replace the menopur dose and they could've contacted the dr. I have to sit home today to wait for the meds to arrive.... everything is supposed to be arriving except the menopur and lovenox (they wanted a $315 copay! but I still have some so I'm holding off until I am almost out and need to call it in).

I didn't have this problem last time, but that was 2-3 or more years ago. I wish they'd let me know if it's being covered or not! I had tons of boxes of it and gave it all away after my last cycle was over b/c I didn't know we'd be here again and there were ppl who didn't have any insurance that needed it, so I figured if needed it again I'd just pay the copay...

I'm calling the dr's office now to see if they can call to find out what the hold up is as far as making a decision....

I used gonal and menopur but didn't have that problem because I already had the gonal, so when the menopur was ordered the gonal didn't need to be.

I HATE having drug related issues, it just makes everything else so much more frustrating than it needs to be!!

No just that i called it into the office and was told they wouldnt get to it until after hours. which means no shot of gettng it sen toonight if it manages to get approved. Grrrr..... wish I had a better update!
