How do you make Filet Mignon?
DH requested this for dinner tonight ( ) and I have no clue how to even make it. I don't want to overcook it! Our grill isn't working so I'd either have to broil it or cook it on the stovetop.
Can you post a recipe that you've tried? The easier, the better! Thanks!!

I start mine on the stove, 2 minutes on each side in a really hot pan. Then I transfer to the oven for 7 minutes, that finishes it medium. I use salt and pepper to flavor.

Thanks so much!! That sounds so easy. All of the recipes I'm finding literally cover the meat in all types of sauces, and we're not really fans of that. What temp should I set my oven to?

Re: How do you make Filet Mignon?
it really depends on the thickness, but salt/pepper and a super hot pan is all you need. a dab of butter (mixed with herbs if you have and want to be creative) is all you need when it's done!!!
i cook it in my super hot cast iron pan, and transfer in the oven after searing for a few minutes on each side if it's more than 1 inch thick.

Re: How do you make Filet Mignon?
Thanks ladies! I'm going to give it a shot. The ones I bought aren't TOO thick, so I'm just going to do it on the stovetop. There is NO WAY that I'm turning my oven on in this heat.
