Baby on the 2nd Fl you and dh on the 1st?
Aside from you having to go up the stairs, is anyone completely terrified? I want to keep him upstairs and us down but I'm having mixed feelings now. Anyone else have a different floor situation!?

If I was in this situation I would definitely have to be on the first floor and my dc on the second floor (not the other way around). I would probably keep the baby in our room for a while though.

Oh its totally the baby on the 2nd us on the 1st. there are 2 rooms upstairs, perfect for 2 kids of different ages but an adult bed set is going to be really really hard. I'm trying to convince myself to put him up there and get a german sheppard watch dog to sleep up w him! lol

we are in the same boat. our bedroom is down and the baby's room is up. im not too bothered by it. we registered for the video monitor, so that makes me feel better. LO will be in our room for the first few months and then im sure we will get used to it.

Re: Baby on the 2nd Fl you and dh on the 1st?
Our set up is rather strange. I hate it but it works and I've gotten used to it 2 bedrooms on main level and 1 in basement. Our master bedroom is in the basement and the kids are on the main level. I'm fine with it now when we moved it was terrible I never slept I was so worried. But when I realized she was fine I was ok. Her windows are NEVER open at night. And the video monitor is on at al times. There was just no other set up. The new baby will be in our room prob till 5 months then she will move upstairs to her room. Unless she grows out of her bassinet then she will have to go up sooner. It's not ideal but we make it work. In the future we won't need to rent the 2nd floor of our home and we can remodel to make all bedrooms upstairs but till then were surviving.

See I feel the same, with the vid monitor and haveing his windows locked and shades drawn, I mean I can't keep him in my room forever, I know he'll be fine i need to relax

Re: Baby on the 2nd Fl you and dh on the 1st?
I posted a similar post last week. I have 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor and 2 upstairs (master on the first floor and the nursery will be on the firdst floor too) . So this DC will be on the first floor with us until God's willing, a second DC comes along, and then they will get the nursery and DC 1 will go upstairs to the "big boy' or" big girl" room.
I think its fine from a safety perspective. Honestly whether they are in a room next door, down the hall or upstairs, to me if you take the right precautions (lock the doors, windows etc) its all the same. What I was worried about was a toddler feeling afraid to be on a different floor from mommy and daddy.
