Funneling cervix- help!!
My sister was just told that she has a funneling cervix measuring a little over 2 centimeters last night. They put her on bed rest, told her to come back tonight and she is two days shy of 28 weeks. She is completely freaking out, reading horror stories online. Does anyone have any experience with a funneling cervix? Thanks so much ladies!!!

Re: Funneling cervix- help!!
Mine was funneling at 25 weeks, in addition to shortening. They put me on bedrest, where I still remain, and the funneling completely resolved. I still have shortening though; hence the bedrest.
Tell her to do exactly what the doctor says, elevate her pelvis and feet up higher than her chest and drink lots and lots of water (they told me you are drinking enough water when your urine is clear). Tell her to not freak out because that doesn't help at all! Good luck!

Pretty similar to my situation, too!
I am now at 35 weeks after bed rest and medication. I'm assuming she's in the care of a Peri-Natologist?
It stinks to go through it, but just do what the doctor says. And bed rest means BED rest... not sitting. She HAS to be lying down.
BTW... I also had a specific medical regimen of Indomethacin and Procardia, which helped with lenghtening my cervix.
Good luck to her!

Re: Funneling cervix- help!!
Thanks girls! (Delayed, I know) Your input is VERY appreciated!
She's doing better- she has to see the doc 1x a week & get an FH test done every two weeks. They're just going to monitor her closely and hope for the best. I am crossing my fingers that she makes it to 32 weeks or beyond...
