Graco pack and play

Did anyone purchase the Graco pack and play? I am trying to decide between these two Graco Pack 'n Play Playard with Newborn Napper - Classic Pooh and Graco Suite Solutions Portable Playard - Birkshire
and I am not sure which one will be better...the main function for us will be when we travel. We probably wont use it much in the house until the baby is older.

Re: Graco pack and play

I registered for the Graco PNP with changing station and newborn napper. Only for the sole reason that the one I had originally registered for was discontinued.

I haven't used it yet. I don't know how I feel about using the napper yet.

Re: Graco pack and play

Babies grow out of the napper and bassinet part pretty quickly. I think the weight limit for them is 15 lbs? If you wont use it till the baby is older you don't need one with a napper or a changer, a basic one is fine. The "mattresses" on them are all pretty much the same Chat Icon

Just to clarify...I wont use this until the baby is older in my house as a playpen but we do plan on taking this with us when we go out as soon as the baby is born.Chat Icon

I registered for the basic one without the napper. Baby Bargains said to not bother with it unless you are planning on using it for that function. I'm not. I have it more for moms house more than anything.

That is what I will be mostly using it for...mom's house, grandma's house etc.

Which pack and play did you pick?

Re: Graco pack and play

If this is only going to be for when you go out, I would not let the newborn napper or bassinet feature sway you. Really, isn't it only a matter of bending over a few more inches (I could be wrong, so please correct me if I am). If you are going to use it primarily when the baby is older, I would not make those features a priority.
Stick to a more basic model and save the few bucks.

bending over is an issue if you've had a c/s. I had no intentions of having one (a c/s) but ended up with one anyway. I don't think I could have managed getting Chat Icon (who was 9 lbs at birth) into and out of it as much as I needed to without a lot of pain if I did not have him in the bassinet. I'm not sure about the napper as that was not an option when I had Chat Icon but it's a great option if it's the same idea as the bassinet.

I didnt even think of this....you girls are a big help. I think I may want the one with the napper but I dont think I need the one with all the extra storage space on the bottom since it will mostly be used when we go out and I will have a diaper bag with me anyway.

Re: Graco pack and play

We just got home from the hospital with our new arrival yesterday so we're not experienced in any of this yet but we have the winnie the pooh classic & she'd napping in it now & loves it. She didn't sleep in the bassinet at all last night so we might try keeping her in the for the night.

Was it hard to assemble? Do you think it will be hard to transport?

Re: Graco pack and play

I registered for a Graco one like the 2nd you posted. I figured it would be good to have the napper. I also have a rock n play so bw the two I figure he will like to sleep in one of those next to my bed for the first cple of weeks. For us these two things will take the place of a bassinet.

A lot of my friends had their babies sleep in the bassinet part of the PNP for the first couple of months, instead of buying a bassinet for the baby or having her sleep in the crib so soon. I plan on trying that as well. So I registered for the PNP with the napper / bassinet.

The newborns I know have been pretty fussy and their moms needed lots of options to get them to sleep - I figure, the more places to try to get LO to settle down and feel cozy, the better!

Re: Graco pack and play

I had a c section and DD slept in the newborn napper for 3 weeks.

Everything else was too low for me to bend and get her in and out.

It's also helpful if you have a 2 story house. I stashed everything on the mattress underneath the napper and changing pad so I wouldn't have to go up and down the stairs so much.

Re: Graco pack and play

honestly, i dont think the napper feature is important at all. no matter what size your baby is you can put he or she right on the mattress. my Chat Icon has been napping in the one at MILs house for a few weeks now and she's barely over 7lbs now. its totally unnecessary to have the napper. you really dont need to bend too much to get in and out when the mattress is at the highest setting.

if you are only using it for travel def dont get the napper. the pack n play folds up nicely when its just the mattress, but all of the other features are additional and have to be lugged around along with the whole pack n play.

I agree. I used a bassinet with DS but moved him our of it at 5 wks bc it was too narrow for him plus he was a belly sleeper. For this Chat Icon I'm using the PNP bassinet for as long as I can. All 4 of my nephews slept in theirs until 3-4 mths.

I have a Graco Pack-n-play and DS hated sleeping in the bassinett portion and has yet to play in it. What did come in handy was the changing table,
