Please help me I am about to lose it-feeding issue
hannah is now on the super duper expensive powdered formula called elecare. the problem is every bottle is getting clogged and it is creating a major problem feeding her b.c we have to keep taking the bottle out of her mouth to unclog it. we have used dr. browns, ventaires, and avents and it happens with all 3! what do i do. she had a serious screaming fit like i have never seen before. i felt so bad. the directions say to shake it up, which we do in a different container and then pour into the bottles. please help me i feel so bad right now.

Re: Please help me I am about to lose it-feeding issue
I just wanted to send some
We have the same prob w/ Nutramigen & Dr. Brown's, I have to take the bottle outof her mouth & yank on the nipple to get it going again, she would be screaming while I'm doing this!!! That was the only solution for me. I just try to clean the nipples really well, dishwasher & then boiling them fairly regularly, but there's really nothing more I can do. I'm sorry I don't have any other answers for you, but just know you are not alone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Please help me I am about to lose it-feeding issue
What about using a hand mixer type thing to mix the formula up so it is super dissolved???
I use a milk frother to mix up my formula and I know that there are purpose made ones....
HTH!!

Re: Please help me I am about to lose it-feeding issue
Is the formula not mixing well, or is it too thick? Dr Brown's make a Y cut nipple for thicker stuff, so maybe that would help?

Re: Please help me I am about to lose it-feeding issue
This happened to us when Maddy was young. It turned out I was putting double the amount of formula in her bottle. Talk about feeling like a bad mom- we had to go get blood estes to determine I didn't do damage to her kidneys- nice! She was fine, but I felt like crap. Anyway, just make sure you are mixing it correctly. Maybe try a Level 2 niplle for Dr Browns? The Y nipple was too much for her, she got really bad reflux .

What about calling the formula company to see what they suggest or if they have a particular bottle or nipple that they recommend. Sorry I can't be much more help than that.

What about premixing the bottles and keeping them set to go in the fridge? That'll give them more time to dilute. I always found that when I did this the bottles didn't clog nearly as much.

We had the same problem in the beginning with Neocate. I use Avent and went to level 2's and it made a world of difference!

Now that I remember I had to do the same with Neocate, go up a nipple size and she did fine. I was worried about her choking because it came out too fast but that never happened.
