Need help figuring this out- vacation plans

So if this cycle is a dud, which it most likely will be given my 1 follie and poor egg quality, next month we will probably have to do a new set of medications.

DH and I were planning on going on vacation, leaving around CD 5, coming back CD 12. Doctor said if I go away during that time, we'd definitely have to take a month off because I need to be monitored.

I DO NOT want to take a month off but we PROMISED DH's parents we would go visit them. I am going to continue talking with the doc tomorrow, but is there any way to squeeze a vacation in during the 2ww? Or some other way?

DH is a teacher so we need to be back, probably during what will end up during my 2ww and I wont even know when the 2ww will be because I wont know how i respond to the meds. It seems like our only choices are not go on vacation or take a month off. Those are really shitttty options. We havent seen his parents for almost a year and we really miss themChat Icon

Anyone have any advice?
Thanks

You can definitely be away during the 2WW. That's not a problem at all.

Where are you going? Is there an RE there that would be willing to do your monitoring for you?

I doubt it- dominican republic. not the greatest health system there- (as I've been unfortunate enough to learn first hand)

What do you think about estimating the 2ww? the doc probably will tell me that he cant predict how long it will take me to ovulate, no? my hormones have been really crazy lately. plus if i have leftover corpus luteum, that will push things back even more.

thanks for responding.

If you have leftover corpus luteum, my suggestion is to take a month off anyway. I had that two months ago and it was REALLY upsetting and annoying. Nobody wants to take time off because you feel useless and like you're not going forward; but, Dr. B told me that having the cysts means you will not get the most out of your cycle and for us, paying OOP, we did not want anything to be a waste of our $$.

What meds do you plan on taking? I would think that you could KIND OF estimate the 2ww, at least to the point where you can make sure you're away during the second week KWIM?

I had leftover CLs this month, and they went away after a week. We did femara only and i ended up making a follicle. My LH had come back at 24 so we werent sure if it was going to happen.

Next month the doc mentioned that we will do follistim, ganirelix and menopur. Luckily I'm not paying OOP so that is not a factor. That wouldve made the decision really easy!

Makes sense.

Okay, so with injectable meds, I would think that you could stim anywhere from 6-14 days. Can you plan your vacation with that timeline? Where are you in your cycle now?

I think once AF comes, see when you can get an appointment so you'll know when you're starting stims and then plan to stim 6-14 days, so make your vacation start 15-17 days after beginning stims. Worst case scenario, if you only stimmed for 6 days, you'd be well into your 2WW when vacation started and you might just miss beta day.

It might work during the 2ww since school doesnt start till the 8th. I'd have to convince DH that he doenst NEED to start working 2 weeks before school starts like he usually does.
Thanks for the help!
