Need Opinions

I am currently waiting on AF to come so I can start my 1st IVF cycle. Wouldn't you know it - I'm 3 days late and of course BFN.

I saw my OB/GYN today to discuss my super heavy periods. I had made this appointment weeks ago. She did a sono and saw a very think lining and a fibroid (which we already knew about). She wants me to take provera and then repeat the sono 5 days after I start to bleed. At that point she would decide if I need a D&C to clean everything out of my uterus or if I just have to live with it until I will consider birth control or something to minimize it.

My issue with this is that I already took 2 months off of fertility treatments and I just turned 40 in May. I really don't want to waste any more time before doing this IVF since I really don't have much of it to begin with. I know it's only a month really, but WWYD? My OB/GYN wouldn't really lean one way or the other and left it up to me (after saying how the odds of a woman in her 40's getting pregnant are low).....

The heavy periods are really bad and do affect my life for the time I have it. Like changing a super plus tampon after 20 minutes...

I would deal with the Fibroid issue with an RE rather than an OBGYN. The RE may handle the situation different than your obgyn is. For starters, you should have a saline sono or hysteroscopy as opposed to a regular sono in reference to the fibroid.
