odd question - chicken bleeding when baking?
I don't bake chicken in oven often - I did recently, and I put bread crumbs on them to make oven-baked fried chicken.
They were drumsticks.
As they were cooking, black ooze emerged from them, like blood.
Is this normal?
I ended up throwing them out; it was so gross.

it could be the marrow from the bones. just cook the chicken throughly and you will nto have any problems. It happens all the time to me, no problems

Re: odd question - chicken bleeding when baking?
The chicken might not have been trimmed correctly, like they left a main vein in the leg. I have noticed this more often with the dark meat.
It's fine to eat but you need to make sure you cook it until the juices run clear. Use a thermometer, I find the dark meat is more difficult to tell when it's cooked, since it doesn't turn white.
I probably would have thrown it out if it was as disgusting as you describe or if possible you can trim that piece off/drain the juice (not sure how much it was)
