Thinking positive thoughts!

First post here...

So I'm 35 and DH is 36 and we've just hit our one year mark. Reality is setting in. I'm writing this through tears because I'm just so scared of what the future holds (or doesn't hold).

I'm in the process of looking into our coverage and researching what specialist I want to go with etc.

My plan covers 3 attempts at IVF lifetime (there is no financial cap—it's just 3 attempts). My husband's plan covers 50K lifetime in infertility treatments. Which is better?

I'm not currently on DH's plan, but was thinking about adding it as a secondary before we start any of this process. Or should I drop mine and have his as my primary? I don't want to make a wrong decision, I want to give us the best chance possible.

Any tips or advice?

i guess it depends on how much your Dr charges for every IVF cycle... i would guess that the 50K lifetime is better than the 3 total IVF...

I am in the same situation except reversed. We decided to first use up my insurance then move to dh's insurance as primary. I would also keep both insurances in case med or labs aren't 100 percent covered on one.

I'd keep both because unless you know exactly what your protocol is going to be, its really hard to predict.
I have 2 insurances and its a godsend.
And welcome! Hope your stay is really short!!

Re: First post here...

The 50000 is much better. I did two cycles one fresh and ine frozen. I also have a 50000 life time max. And I have used less then 11000 all together for both cycle. Insurance company negotiating cheaper rates so they don't pay as much as per cycle as someone who pays out of pocket

Re: First post here...

Also for me, meds and labs were not part of the lifetime max
