Gardening question: yuk yuk plants?

I tried to google it, but I didn't get what I was looking for.

Basically, my mother's garden is overrun with these "palm leave" like low plants. In June/july they grow long stalks with white little flowers on them.

She hates them. They were uprooted once by a friend but they grew back and are out of control. Some of the stalks were infested with black bugs and I had to clip a bunch of them yesterday.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of plants these are? We always called them yuk yuk plants, but it seems that's not the case.

Also, how can we get rid of them?! They're horrible and taking over her entire front garden.

Sounds like a type of hosta to me; there are many different hosta varieties.

They are called Yucca plants. Be careful when you remove them as their leaves are very sharp.

Yes they are Yukka's. We just ripped ours out a few weeks ago. I hated them too!!

We hVe one. I hate it. Out landscaper told us we would have to did well beneth the root and remove it. He also said it will probably come back, and then to remove it again and it should be gone. Next year that sucka yucca is out.

I have these same plants on the side of my house and DH HAAAAAAAAAAATES THEM! but I like them
