Wedding attire
My cousin, who lives upstate in Monroe, is getting married in September. While I am a bridesmaid, my sister needs to find a dress.
I have heard conflicting reports on what is considered appropriate wedding attire for an upstate wedding.
Can you ladies provide some insight and recommendations for my sister?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Wedding attire
Monroe isn't really "upstate". It's not the boondocks. You would wear pretty much the same thing you would wear to a LI wedding.
Unless she's doing a barn wedding or a casual outdoor wedding, I would just wear a cocktail dress.

ITA.
ETA: What is your BM dress like? You can use that to gauge how fancy your sister should be.

I agree-also as a BM, you probably now a little about the wedding- so ifi t is in a reception hall, regular dinner & dancing type wedding, a cocktail dress is good.

I agree that Monroe is not really upstate. I would wear whatever I would wear for a LI wedding.

I don't think Monroe is that far, they live right past Woodbury Commons. However, when she came to visit, she was amazed that I was able to listen to Z100
Maybe it is the way she portrays herself that makes me feel that she lives "upstate"
Thanks for your help!

I know what you mean. I live about 20 minutes from Woodbury Commons too. In that area Z100 comes in and out
But yea, as others said, gauge it based on the type of wedding she's having. Since you're in the BP you already kind of know if its a super casual wedding or not. If not, I would tell your friend to go with what she would normally wear to a wedding.
