Mover ??
We are moving on July 2nd...we have furniture that fills a 3br apartment and we are only moving a 5-8 minute car ride away. Today DH got an estimate from a moving company who said they'd charge us $1300. Is that reasonable? It seems high to me but the last time I moved it was DH, some friends and a UHaul so I have no scope of reference.

Re: Mover ??
We used a profession moving company and it was worth every penny. They wrapped and protected everything, were so quick and polite. They even packed the past minute things. Find out their exact services before you decide if it's worth it.

Re: Mover ??
Where are the mover's based? What was the hourly rate? Are you moving to/from an apartment that doesn't have an elevator? This all contributes to the cost. Movers generally charge a 'travel' fee (based on how far you live from their facility) and then start on the clock once they get there. $1300 does sound a little on the high side to me. We just moved and paid about $850. That involved a ride from Queens to Roslyn, Roslyn to Long Beach and then Long Beach to East Rockaway. The guys started at 7:30am and were gone by 2:30.
