i dont' know how to do this. just venting.

12dpiui today and another BFN. this was our first IUI and we had such high hopes. i just don't understand how it didn't work. 3 perfect follicles, "textbook" lining, good sperm....what didn't happen in there?!!?i'm so emotionally exhausted after 2 years of this crap, DH feels the same. we don't want to stop trying yet we'd like our lives to move on. we haven't been on a real vacation in years, we passed up a huge trip with our friends to puerto rico next month b/c i really thought we'd be preggo and i feel like our lives are ruled by my cycle. this sucks so bad. having a really sad day.

thanks for letting me vent. this board is such a huge support for me...i don't know what i would do if i couldn't come here everyday

even with IUI your chances each cycle IF everything is perfect are still only about 8% higher than BD for a perfectly healthy couple (and it goes down from there depending on your other factors). some cycles we cant even conceive due to egg issues and others the sperm and egg just never meet. it sucks but it happens. you will get lucky one of these months, treatment will only UP your chances.

You aren't out yet! I read somewhere that once an egg gets fertilized that there is only a 50% chance it will implant. It's really a wonder how people get pregnant on accident or on the first try

I was told that basically if a normal person has a 25% chance with iui that it's still only 33% with iui.

im so sorry..i know your pain...

i stopped the whole ""n case i got pregnant planning/canceling"...instead i just plan what i want and let nature take its course. a bfn is disappointing...but a BFN and a cancelled vacation is even worse..


good luck...you have to remember that come hell or high water - it will happen at some point!

there are stronger methods...

I totally understand! My first IUI I had perfect follicles and DH's count was ridiculously high. BFN. The following month my follicles were all 20 + (I had three) and I got pregnant with a singleton. We had been trying for over 16 months with one loss so I truly didn't understand what was happening.

I am right there with you. I don't know if I can keep putting myself through this month after month. Last night was the first time I thought to myself, maybe I just have to be happy with my life as it is. I want more children so badly, but I also want to stop hurting ALL THE TIME!

I don't know what the answer is for us, but I want you to know you are NOT alone and we will get through this somehow.

I'm so very sorry Unfortunately...I know that many of us can relate. I know that I put so much on hold because of TTC. The one thing I have finally learned is to live my life as best I can while TTC and to not put off things if at all possible. I hope that you get a nice surprise and are indeed pregnant..but if not..hang in there.

Your story sounds like mine. Everything looks great on paper, and yet nothing to show for it

The only thing I really try to do is not let it run my life. I make plans, and still do what I want...otherwise I think I would go crazy!

After 3 years, I'm still trying to "live my life." It's so hard to plan but you just have to do it. I'd rather plan and then cancel if something comes up then have any regrets. DH and I went to Ireland in April and I had a chemical while I was there. I wanted so bad to get on a plane and come home. But, I knew if I came home, I'd regret every second of it. After each BFN give yourself a break to sit back and sulk, don't feel guilty because it will be that much harder to jump back on the IUI bandwagon!
