I lived in a great, small townhouse community in Oakdale( connetquot) for almost ten years. The neighborhood is off locust ave south of the RR tracks. It's called Greenwood. There s a newer section just north of the tracks as well.
Since I moved further east a few other condo style developments have been built south of sunrise in Oakdale. It's a nice place to live and very convenient.

Re: Condos in the Sachem/Connetquot area

We lived in Nob Hill for 4 years. It was an easy lifestyle, but I honestly would never live above/below anyone ever again. We had a downstairs, and you could hear EVERYTHING from our upstairs neighbor. Her alarm woke me up in the AM. Apparently the upstairs people had the same complaints about the downstairs people, though not quite so bad.

I'd go for a townhouse style where you have both floors.
