I live nearby but go there all the time- what type of cuisine and where in Poughkeepsie( north by Marist College or further south by the mall?)

CIA (You def need reservations), Hyde Park Brewery, there was a good Japanese Hibachi restaurant on Route 9 also.

Amici's by the train station
Shadows on the Hudson off Rt 9 ( beautiful outdoor eating on the river. I highly recommend!

I like Shadows on the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, it's right by the train, the Chance is in that area too

yeah- its semi-=casual. My dh wears jeans there with a polo all the time.
They are open for lunch so I would think you could probably have dinner whenever you want
I would say its no more than 10 min from Shadows to the Chance

I've seen good and bad reviews of the Marriott Residence Inn in Poughkeepsie.
Has anyone stayed there?
