Those who have had a chemical... help?

Hi girls, Sorry in advance for TMI-

Last Friday, I was 6 days late for AF. BFN on home preggo test and BFN for in-office urine test. Blood tests revealed a positive but I was told I had a chemical and to go home. My number was a 6- can someone explain it to me?

I went home and AF showed on Saturday. Horrible horrible cramps and bleeding and clotting so much worse than normal. I went to Dr. for bloodwork Monday, and then Wednesday.

Monday's bloods were 14 and Wednesday a 14, but heavy AF w/ cramps still here! I am so confused... the nurse kept saying I had a chemical but the number is still 14.

Can someone help explain to me what is going on? Chat Icon

Even after a chemical, your number might not be 0 for a while. The HCG stays in your bloodstream, even while you're bleeding. I'm sorry. Chat Icon

Thanks girls! Honestly I am ok emotionally but I just have a lot of questions. I often see people here talk about betas, HCG numbers etc and I don't know the meaning.

Do my numbers have to be 0 in order to start Clomid?

I'm sorry Chat Icon

Sometimes the # goes up a bit before it goes down. Basically a beta of 6 at 6 days after AF is due is really low.

They will most likely have you repeat the beta until it's back to 0 before allowing you to go back on clomid.

Before you start clomid you'll have to go in for b/w (FSH and progesterone) and have a mid-cycle sono. Your DH should also get a sperm analysis done. You don't want to go on meds if he has any issues.

Thanks girls Chat Icon

He just had his s/a last week and he's 100% perfect. Alll of my b/w has been fine and no cysts or anything. I was supposed to start Clomid but I haven't yet. So maybe I have to wait a month right?

When I had my chemical I got a bunch of BFP's right around when AF was due. About a week later I started bleeding a bit and went to the dr. My beta was 19. It took time to go down. Im sorry you are going through thiss. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

PP are right. With my first chemical, I started to lose it as soon as I found out (heavy cramping and bleeding) but my beta doubled like normal. It wasn't until 2 weeks later that it started to go down.
