IUI Yay or Nay?
We did IUI/clomid the first 2 months with the RE. 2nd month was a chemical/possible ectopic w/ a beta of 3.
Then we stopped IUIs b/c my cycle fell on a weekend and they say it really doesn't help all that much b/c there are no MF issues. I continued femara and immune/slight clotting protocol. 2 months- BFN.
I have endo and open tubes but there is a chance that my tubes aren't propelling the egg down properly. It's not definite, but possible since I do have endo and it can constrict the tubes. If this is the case (and there is no way to tell, really), then IVF is the only option.
We are looking into it and I'm asking for preliminary tests to be sure nothing else is wrong. We will pay OOP so we don't want to jump into it and be out $10,000 with nothing to show for it and no chance of ever doing it again.
So, my question is- would you try IUI again or do you think it's a waste of time for my situation?
TIA!

Re: IUI Yay or Nay?
Thanks. I have unlimited coverate for IUI but NO IVF (except maybe meds).
Dr. B said its a possibility that the tubes arent working. It's still on the back burner. He says after 3 well timed cycles and no pregnancy, something is up. He also said the "chemical" could have been a lab margin of error, but I don't buy that b/c AF was late and it's never ever been late.
But I know some people who get a bfp on thie 7th IUI so maybe Im just taking longer.
I want to try at least one more cycle with or without IUI before considering IVF. I haven't gotten a 2nd opinion on the tubes. the HSG was last month and they were open (1 more than the other, but spillage on both)
Oh decisions decisions!

Re: IUI Yay or Nay?
it took me 7 iuis to get pg btw . and yups i dont beleive in margin of error much as far as your chemical . i had a chemical at 1.8 but i know i was pg bc the 2 days before i was getting bfps.
imo i would do another one or two iuis while getting a second opinion on the tubes.
sorry its sooo frustrating! i feel you xxoxo

Re: IUI Yay or Nay?
Did you really! I was just throwing a number out there. Haha.
Hmm I know I'll need a new re if I decide to go the Ivf route anyway since I want to apply for a grant. I guess it can't hurt to see someone else. I'm reluctant because I know dr b knows his shite. I'm going today for cd 3 so I'll ask him about it. He says iui doesn't make much of a difference and it really wasn't an option the last 2 months because of my cycle. It's just such a pita to go there an extra 2 days and work around our schedules. Oy!
