Can azalea bushes be shaped
Deciding on new perrenials to place on our property. I'd like an azalea or two, but worry that they will just tun into a "bush that blends with the landscape". Therefeore, I just want to know if anyone trims them nice and neat-sort of like the way you can do boxwood. I like the idea of an azalea, but if i can't trim that baby back, I need to find some other flowering bus that I can. Suggestions?

Yes, they actually shape very nicely w/ dense leaves.
Just be careful to not shape them until after the flowers drop off. Shaping just in late winter/early spring is ok as long as the blooms haven't started to come in.

I don't know how but they can. When we bought this house the man had trimmed and shaped one into a tree. It was so tall and literally looked like a tree!
