Laminate Wood Floors Quote
We were quoted $2,200 to install laminate wood flooring in 580 sq ft of our co-op. We have to pay for materials on our own. Does this sounds about right? It seems a little high to me. TIA

Not sure of the square footage but I was quoted 695 to install prefabricated wood and 1500 to install regular wood that neds to be stained. This will cover half of the floor on one floor of my house.

We paid $4,500 for approx 800 sf. Labor and materials. Pergo. This also included 2 stairs / risers.
That seems a bit high does it include furniture removal and removal and disposal of existing? We removed our funriture and ripped up the carpet and pad.

There's no furniture it's an empty apartment and there is carpet to rip up I can ask if we do it ourselves if it would bring the price down. He's calling me tonight to negotiate on price. This doesn't include any materials. Would $1,500 be more reasonable?? I need to come back with a number to discuss with him. We are also doing tons of other things all with him so we're hoping to get a "package" discount.

Re: Laminate Wood Floors Quote
where I work, we don't do installations and when a customer asks for a install price, we give a range. Straight install, would normally range from $2.50-$3.50 SF. Rip out prior floor generally $1-$2 SF. This is here on LI, not sure about where you are. Generally contractors are more negotiable if they are doing more work. Also remember that they tend to be slower during the summer months because people focus on the outside not the inside and that can be a negotiating point. Hope that helps.

I spoke to the contractor and he said he has to replace the base board molding which is why the price is a little higher. Does this even seem right??

Wow that's a great price!! We're expecting to spend at least $1,200 on the flooring alone. Where did you get yours from?

we went to floor store in farmingdale on rt 110. we wen in and told the guy we needed the cheapest flooring available due to baby on the way and current flooring not being safe. we originally went in looking at roll out linoleum as a temporary solution and he happened to have some discontinued laminate in stock in the back
