Moms of babies who always spit up
Charlie is 5 & 1/2 months old and he has been spitting up since he was born. The Doctor never was too concerned because he is gaining weight and growing fine. I figured that he would have grown out of it by now. Im concerned now because its not only the formula he spits up, he even spits up the solids. I'm worried that it may have been Acid Reflux all along. Has anyone been through this...is there light at the end of the tunnel???

My DD had acid reflux and grew out of it at around 6-7 months old. I would tell your Dr. that it is a problem you would like to look into and see what they say. Good luck.

Me Me Me!
My DD has always been a regular spitter upper and the DR has told me that some babies are more than others and that as long as they're not uncomfortable during feeding (i.e. arching of the back, crying) and not doing any projectile throwing up then not to worry. We must own I kid you not over 20 something bibs coz of this. I just try not to jiggle DD around after a meal or put her on her tummy.
oh yeah- DD is almost 6 mos so i'm hoping in the next mos the spit up disappears.

Re: Moms of babies who always spit up
Kevin was a MAJOR spitter-upper and did get treatment for acid reflux. The meds did help but he still continued to spit up and does a little today (at 1 year) but it will lessen as the baby grows.
It got to the point sometimes I would cry when I changed him because it seemed like I was changing him all day long but its really quite normal.
It just means more laundry and lots of bibs.

Re: Moms of babies who always spit up
Here is what I posted on another thread not to long ago...

All I can say is what I exp. w/ Ryan...
In the beg. he was Bf and didnt spit up- @ 2 months I switched to formula- and didnt spit up.....then around 3/4 months he began spitting up- no pain or anything- but he would make me do alot of laundry-
I kept bringing him to the DR and they kept reassuring me that it was not AR- and that some babies just spit up...
You could search through some of my old spit up posts.... alot of people had some great suggestions...
I burped every oz.- feed on in incline- tried to keep him from bouncing around after he ate.... tried to put him on an incline after he ate, etc.... While it never stopped the problem... it sometimes reduced the spit up...
There was no rhyme or reason to when he'd spit up- or how much- but it never seemed to phase Ryan...
The DR swore by 6 months he'd grow out of it... and POOF @ 6 months- it just stopped!
HTH --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ETA- My dr. use to say " Your problem is not a medical one, it just a laundry problem..."
If your child is still gaining, and is not showing discomfort when eating.... than Id say dont worry about it!

We called my little Jenna the Spit up queen. She kicked the habit around 9-10 months.

Re: Moms of babies who always spit up
Miranda spit up from day one as well, even when we started solids. Around 7 months it noticably started to taper off and now at 10 months I can't remember the last time she spit up. It will get better (I thought it never would). The important thing is that he's gaining.
