Kids are a real PIA sometimes!! LOL I'm about to post my own vent about SD right now so you are in good company It must be hard for him to see your happy little family knowing that he was raised by his grandmother. Try to cut him some slack. I know it's not easy and your daughter really deserved to have her big brother there. Being a stepmom takes a LOT of patience and even more "being the bigger person."

How old is he?
I noticed with my SDs that they don't have as much interest in their little cousins as much anymore (they are 7 -10 years older).
I think it's normal but in nuclear families, they aren't given a choice.
So I would be more mad at MIL than your SS.

I'm assuming he's a teenager as hurtful as it is just try to remember that they're going to be selfish for a few years. Their whole lives revolve around their friends. My own 14y/o would rather go to a friends house than be here for a party for his baby sister and he lives with us! Its the age.

I know the feeling (SD has missed many family events including 1st birthdays) due to her mother
But as PP have mentioned, in general its a very self absorbed age (I remember myself being guilty of ditching my family for friends etc at that age  )

yes hes is a teen. just turned 13.
your right i do blame mil.
since he became a teen he became nasty with me and has make me really sad. ive known him since he was 3 
I totally understand he wants to be with his friends and we always offer him to bring friends along.
When we saw him the week before he was so good....so it through me for a loop.
but mil likes to start drama when its something for us. She said he didnt want to come to our eparty either and made me cry...in the end he came and he said that was never an issue.
