Where is a good place to eat lunch around the Met museum?
Something simple, American or Italian. Looking for a place to get together with a few out of town friends and reminisce and I need it to be close to the Met Museum.
TIA!

If you're willing to walk East a bit you'll have more (affordable) options. There are not too many options within a block or two but here is one I've passed a million times and looks good but I've never tried. Probably expensive but if proximity is a priority it's a good bet:
Caffe Grazie Italian 84th right off Madison
If you're willing to walk 5 extra minutes you'll have a ton of options. Just walk up/down Third Ave b/t 79th and 84th and you'll run into a bunch. We live exactly 3 avenues east of the Met and love the below restaurants:
Due Nice but casual Italian restaurant. Delicious food and reasonable 80th & 3rd Ave
Eli's - super casual cafeteria style restaurant attached to gourmet grocery store. Amazing food. 80th & 3rd
Luke's Bar & Grill Good burgers, very casual 80th & 3rd
TiramiSu Italian, casual, affordable, good pizza

Thank you so much for your recommendations, Kelly! TiramiSu is looking especially good- lots of nice choices. We will have 2 kids and a vegetarian in the group so variety is key!
Thanks again!

No problem! TiramiSu is a great bet then. Good outdoor seating also if it's nice out. We go there all the time with DD. Also a great vegetarian place on 75th and 3rd, Candle Cafe. I promise the omnivores won't miss the meat!
