Re: please be honest

when I was PG I asked my Dr b/c I am a BIG time Coffee drinker. She said the tests they did to establish caffenine issues on the fetus equalled a women drinking 5 BOTTLES of 2 liter soda a day for her PG.

Since they never tested though on women, they can only hypotheically say, so they warn against it. But I have never heard of a baby having any negative effects due to a caffenine drinking mom...have you?

I wouldnt be drinking a bottle a day, but I wouldnt feel guilty about the occasionaly cup of coffee. Chat Icon

Re: please be honest

Um, I had one cup of coffee and like two or three glasses of iced tea everyday when I was prego. I was working two jobs for much of my pregnancy, and without the caffeine, I would have dropped. I drank basically the same thing before I was pregnant, only it was diet iced tea before I got pregnant. Now, I only have one cup of coffee a day, which is ironic, considering I'm much more sleep deprived NOW than I was THEN. Go figure, oh, and I'm breastfeeding, so "supposedly" you should still watch your caffeine. Personally, I think it would take a large amount of caffeine each day to make a big difference. But that's JMO, and who am I really?Chat Icon

Re: please be honest

I have 1/2 a coke once in a while. If I drink any more or have coffee, I have a belly revolt. I think it's the baby kicking...

Re: please be honest

I have one cup every morning. I drank decaf the first trimester and got a raging migraine every single day. I am happy with my one cup, considering before I was PG I was drinking 3 or 4!

Re: please be honest

I have one or two caffeine beverages a day. I always have at least one soda, because I just can't give up my diet coke fix. If I'm tired, I will have a coffee or (I can hear the gasps now...) a Redbull if completely and totally desperate for energy. If we go out to eat, I always get a soda. That's actually cutting out a lot of caffeine for me, believe it or not.

When I was PG my dr. told me no caffiene and I said ok but I still had it. The first trimester I didn't have a taste for coffee at all but once I got to my 2nd I wanted. I would have half a cup a day and then a glass of ice tea everything else would be water. I would have some soda if I wanted something sweet.

I drank a CAN (and only the can was good for me for some reason) of coke every single day when I was PG...I just couldn't give it up, it was a craving...
then on some days I would more...

Completely fine...

ETA: my comfort was that it took 8 cans of coke to equal the caffeine in a cup of coffee, and plenty of women drink their one cup of joe a day...

Same here- I needed it-

I had a can or 2 (maybe more depending on the day I had Chat Icon )

My DR told me- it would take drinking ALOT of soda- everyday to make it "bad" for the baby

Thats what my DR told me-

5 2 liters bottles of day is what it would take for it to be "bad"

Re: please be honest

sometimes i have those frappuchino bottle for breakfast and once in a while i'll have a reg cup of coffee, i wasn't the biggest caffeine fan to begin with, so cutting it out wasn't that big of a deal for me.
