Find out what your deductible is- let's say its $500 (that's a low one). You're responsible to pay $500 worth of services out of pocket first. Once you hit that in a calendar year, the insurance will pay for part of the charge- that's coinsurance. usually its 70/30 or 80/20. The insurance co pays 70% of the charge and you pay 30%.

That's how I understand it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
