BBQ IDEAS

I know this has been tossed around a lot... but do you have any specific recommendations for bbq ideas... specifically ways to dress up the steak, hamburgers, chicken, salmon, etc.

Any specific store bought marinades you use or homemade marinades?

I already make hot wings, teriyaki wings, lemon-pepper chicken kabobs, cajun burgers, guinness burgers, plain grilled salmon, steak seasoned steak....

but I am looking for more ideas now, and just run out of ways to "dress" it up. Any ideas for me?

Re: BBQ IDEAS

Chicken marinaded in Italian Dressing is definitely good.

Also, Dh has been into making his own dry-rubs this season. he just makes a mix of spices- salt, pepper, garlic powder, dried herbs, ground mustard, chilli powder, etc...depending on the flavor he's going for and THEN adding the marinade on top of that...everyone loves it.

DH also just mixes up different sauces/marinades in a ziplock..he says if it smells good in the ziplock, it will be good and then he'll marinate chicken or fish in it.

Re: BBQ IDEAS

I like marinating things for bbq

London broil goes in soy sauce, fresh minced ginger, lots of fresh chopped garlic, a little brown sugar and some olive oil. About 20 minutes before I cook it I let it rest at room temp. About 10 minutes before I cook it (no sooner) I add a little vinegar. Yum.

I toss shrimp in a baggie with fresh garlic, lemon, olive oil and salt. Then I skewer and throw 'em on the grill. I baste them with the marinade while they cook (only takes a few minutes)

Lamb chops get almost the same treatment as the shrimp - except I put in EXTRA garlic and rosemary - plus a little oregano and dried mint.

I love PW's Tequila Lime Chicken - and it's always a big hit. MAKE THE PICO with it!!

I also toss fresh sliced zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes and onion with a little salt and olive oil and skewer those. Delicious.

For my burgers I usually mix ground meat (2/3 beef w/ 1/3 Italian pork sausage) with finely chopped garlic, some A-1, a dash of worcestershire and salt.
