How many follies?
I'm mid-cycle on my first IVF attempt. I was just wondering how many follies all of you ladies had. I'm on day 8 of stims, and today I still only had 8 follies. I'm only 29, so I guess I anticipated having many more. I'm beating myself up a bit and was just looking for some feedback.
The doctor upped my Repronex today and changed my injections to intra-muscular - I'm hoping this helps make sure all of my follies are mature - but I'm assuming I won't get any new ones at this point, correct?

Are those 8 follies dominant follies? Do you have some smaller ones or are there 8 total? Your stimulation depends upon your protocol, how much medication you are given to stim. Some women do well on low doses and some do well on higher doses. Really it all depends what type of control your dr has.
Remember it's not quantity, it's quality thats important!

I think 8 dominant - they didn't count all of the tiny ones. All of these are in the 12-14 mm range
I know its the quality, but I guess I just gave myself different expectations Due to our situation, we only have enough of DH's sperm to do 3 fresh cycles. . .I think I'm just getting nervous that we won't have any embies left over to freeze!

When I did my IVFs I was 28 & 29 and I got 10 eggs the first one and 7 the second time. Each time I got 5 embryos, transferred 2 for both of my IVFs and both of my FETs. I did not get pregnant, I had severe endometriosis. But you sound like you are right on track to me. Like the other woman who responded, it's quality that matters. I know that is hard to hear when you read other stories where women are getting over 20 eggs, but I always tried to remember that my body was giving me the best it could :)

Sounds to me like you are right on track. I think I was around the same at that time, maybe I had 9? I remember being super bummed, but my RE said she was happy with that. And it is quality over quantity.
At my ER, they wound up getting 12 eggs. 10 were mature and 10 fertilized. I had a 5dt of 2 blasts and had 6 left to freeze (the other 2 did not make it to blast). I am now 11w pregnant with  . Good Luck!!!!

Thank you ladies! This made me feel a bit better!iguess reading all those posts sbout women getting 20+ eggs skewed my perspective. Congrats on your Dolphinsbaby!

I had 10 retrieved, 7 were mature, and 5 fertilized. Good luck!!

When everyone says it's quality over quantity they are right. I had 14 follies, they retrieved 10, 9 were mature, and only 3 fertilized. As you can imagine I was bummed out, feeling disappointed that I wouldn't have any to freeze.
Two were implanted and I am now 16 weeks pregnant with a singleton . While we didn't end up with any frosties, I am beyond thrilled that one of my embies was "the one."

20+ is a lot so don't go based on that number. usually those with PCOS tend to get that high number.
i had 14 retrieved (they only saw 12 during the sonos so keep that in mind) and 9 fertilized.
everyone and every cycle is different. i think you are doing great!!! good luck!

I was changed to intramuscular and it made a world of difference for me. Most of my little ones caught up. Good Luck 8 are great!
