glass shower doors
we're building a bathroom and need to pick out glass for the shower. I'd like clear glass but DH is concerned that the soap scum will show after a few years and it'll be hard to clean. What are my other options and any pictures you have to share would be fabulous
TIA

Re: glass shower doors
we just did ours with a pebbled glass door. it is clear but has a texture. i like it it's kinda something you need to see in person though- hard to see in a pic. they carry them in home depot and lowes

Re: glass shower doors
the soap residue (white spots) will show after a few weeks, not a few years!! honestly though, it's much easier to clean un-textured glass. i use the Bathroom Magic Eraser - works like a charm. And there's nothing like gleaming glass shower doors lol.

Re: glass shower doors
I find it much easier to clean them when you use a squee-gee after each shower to get the water off. then clean weekly like you would do normally. The clear is pretty but it does require work!

We just got clear glass doors and they are staying relatively clean.

Re: glass shower doors
I hate my smooth glass shower doors. My water spots are IMPOSSIBLE to get off. Plus we have like 18 million yards of glass.
eta: Magic Eraser does nothing for my glass. I even tried Easy Off (it worked for my mom) and nothing. Arrrghhhh. I hate my shower doors. I'm gonna have to razor blade them or some crap.

I squeegee after every use as well. I clean mine with half amount of white vinegar and half water. It works great each and every time, cheap solution to make, no harmful fumes, and great for the environment. I'd get smooth glass.

Re: glass shower doors
Mr. Clean Magic Ereaser!!
When we moved in to our house 2 years ago, I thought I was going to have to replace the shower doors because there was so much soap scum. I literally tried everything....orange oil, lemon oil and probably 10 other "soap scum" products and none of them worked. Someone suggested the magic eraser and the doors looked BRAND NEW in 3 minutes......I swear, it's the best thing ever. So now I just leave one in the shower and every 5 days or so I wipe it down and it's like brand new.

we didn't squeegee (oh and we have one and it hangs in our shower). We just never did.
Do you think the vinegar/water mix will remove the water spots? I don't know what to do anymore. A spot will come off if I scratch it with my fingernail. I am not sitting there scratching each and every one off.

Re: glass shower doors
I have clear glass doors and they still look clean. we squeege them after each shower and clean with vinegar. Still looks good. you can also spray them with rainex before you get them wet the water just beads right off of it.
