If you had an estate sale for a loved one who passed away
what did you do with the stuff that was left over? We are having sale number 2 this weekend because there is still a lot left over but after then we are closing in the next week or two so I'm not sure what to do with the stuff that doesn't sell at this sale.

Re: If you had an estate sale for a loved one who passed away
We had an estate sale last weekend and there some furniture left over as well as some other stuff. My mom contacted a few people that will come and take what is left. I cant get the info for you if you want so you can call them and see what they can do for you.
Let me know.

We had the veterans association come and pick the stuff up. They took furniture, appliances, housewears etc. They were so appreciative. I think they were based in Huntington.

There are different groups that will pick up for you, like Big Brothers Big Sisters.
I had one a couple of years ago and we just threw the leftovers in my truck and brought them to the Goodwill Store on Merrick Road in Bellmore. We did it that way because we had no garage at the time and didn't want to bring the stuff back in the house once it was out.

Can you ask the people that are buying the house if they are interested in any of it? We bought some furniture from the sellers of our house. It may be worth a shot.

Re: If you had an estate sale for a loved one who passed away
I just held a rummage sale for my son's preschool/temple. What I did to get rid of stuff was say after they purchased something they could take something from a designated area for free. We called big brothers big sisters and the salvation army. They took a lot of things. There is some stuff that they will not take. Those items went into the dumpster.

We sold every piece of furniture and the knick knacks.. we tossed afterwards. There may have been one piece of furniture we didn't sell and I think we called special collections to have them pick it up.

We put the rest on Craigslist with Free Items for the leftovers.
We had an agency that helps victims of domestic violence take a ton of stuff.
