Should I be nervous?
I had my NT scan last night at 11.5 weeks. When they measured the fluid behind the neck they said it was at the higher limits of normal, she got two readings because the little one was moving around so much. One was 2.5 and the other was 2.7. They said that all other indication on the baby looks good. She said the nasal bone was a good sign as well something else I just can't remember what she said. They did the blood test and when the dr came in she said she wanted me to go to a periotologist just to have them repeat the test. They told me not to be nervous but I still can't help but be. I've had a rough pregnancy to begin with, with losing a twin at 5.5 weeks and then having heavy bleeding episodes because of it. Off the record the sono tech said she really doesn't think I have anything to worry about because there are no other indications and that because I was at the higher limits of normal they will always send for additional testing. I'm just not sure what to think. Does anyone have any experience with this and all turned out well? Thanks!!

Re: Should I be nervous?
I just had my scan on Monday and it was done at a perinatalogists office, not at my doctors. I wonder if their machines are more advanced? I know after going through IVF too, the whole process is so anxiety provoking. Wishing you lots of luck! I know that not having other markers and a distinct nose is a great sign!

I haven't been through this yet but based on what you said I think you should hold off on worrying until you have something to worry about. Worrying isn't good, and right now based on what the nurse said off the record, it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about

Re: Should I be nervous?
with my son - the fluid in the neck was on the high side - don't remember the numbers but they had us talking to the genetist and planning on doing an amnio -
turned out when we got the blood work numbers back - there was no problem based on my age my numbers were good and i did not need an amnio -my son is fine

Re: Should I be nervous?
I know it's hard, but try not to worry just yet. I didn't have this experience with the NT scan, but something similar happened when I had to see a pediatric cardiologist to check the baby's heart (not routine - had to do it because of my diabetes). The first time I went the doctor said there may be a hole in the baby's heart, but he wasn't sure and I had to wait 4 weeks to go back. I was worried at first, but then calmed myself down. When we went back he said everything looked perfect and there was no hole. So just try to relax until the next appointment. I'm sure it will turn out just fine.
