Bamboo Floor?
I am installing wood floors in our family room. Has anyone ever done this and if so what type of wood did you use? Bamboo, pre-fabricated wood, or the traditional wood floor.
If anyone has bamboo or pre-fabricated wood floors do you like them? Pros? Cons?
Thanks!

Re: Bamboo Floor?
I have two different types of bamboo floors, both from Teragren . They use minimal dangerous chemicals in the product, and they have sustainably harvested bamboo that is matured. Some cheaper brands use lots of bad chemicals, and cut down rain forests to grow their cash crop.
I love the flooring. The Synergy line, which I have in my dining room, is harder than any wood. I often give friends a hammer and a scrap piece of the bamboo, and have them try and dent it...
I have the natural color in my office, and when my contractor installed it, he commented that it was a harder material than anything he's worked with before. Then, when I did the dining room, I gave him even harder bamboo to work with.... For the Synergy floor, he had to use different nails than he usually did, since the typical oak floor nails kept bending.
It looks great, too. I'm so glad I went that route.
I have a scrap piece that I've been keeping outdoors for the last two years, in all the snow, rain, sun, etc. After two years outdoors, the clear coating along the edges is almost all gone, but the board itself is still in pretty good shape. If I just took a sander to it, it would still look as good as new.
