Re: one more problem
i don't have GD but when I did the 3 hour test the tech told me if I did end up with GD that I should do a low carb diet (palm size of rice, palm size of protein and the rest of the plate should be full of vegetables). She also said to stay away from fruits - other than fresh pineapple. She said walk everyday - walk until you are tired - you do not have to speed walk just regular walking but lots of it.
HTH
edited to add - She also said to stay away from high sugar drinks (soda, fruit juices, etc.)

Re: one more problem
I'm sooo sorry!
I have GD and it's an awful pain in the arse!! Mine is also uncontrolled by diet and I need insulin. I'm having major issues with my insulin though.... so it's all a work in progress. With less than 7 weeks to go I'm left wondering if it will ever be under control.
I prick my fingers 6 times a day and I do keytone urine tests as well as night and day insulin shots. It's not fun, I won't lie.
Did they tell you about the diet at all? They should have you eating specific foods at specific times of the day. I have found that different nutritionists have different plans for each person. but it's basically 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. The meals are protein, veggies, and a small amount of carb (under 25g carbs for me). then the snacks are a fruit and a milk serving. The nigh snack is basically anything I want so I can have ice cream with an orange (the ice cream in that case would count as a milk). I can't eat any low fat foods or diet foods (as my nutritionist says "fake sugar does not make healthy babies". I can't drink sugar... so no coffee of soda whatsoever. Unless you like coffee with just milk which I don't. I can only drink water, seltzer and milk. You eat every 2 hours pretty much.
good luck. I'm sorry about the gd.
