Does anyone make their own hummus?
Anyone have a good recipe? We get it from the greek place a lot but i'm interested in making a big batch of my own. I like it lemon-y!

Re: Does anyone make their own hummus?
I add a few cans of the beans in my food processor and turn it on. Add lemon juice until it gets to the consistency I want. Turns out great. If I want to give it a little something extra, I drain a jar of roasted peppers and add them to the processor too.
Some people add tahini, but I never did and don't miss it.

Re: Does anyone make their own hummus?
My base recipe is:
1 can garbanzo beans 2 tbsp tahini paste 1 clove garlic 1 lemon zested and juiced (do more if you like it lemony!) 2 tbsp olive oil S&P
Just throw it all in food processor and your done. You can also leave out the olive oil and then pour it on top of hummus before serving.
Sometimes I will add roasted peppers, cucumber or zucchini if I want a different flavor. If I do this and and am serving it I will chop up extra and put on top as a garnish.

Re: Does anyone make their own hummus?
Oh yea we make it all the time.
2 cans of chick peas (drained and washed) 6+ gloves of garlic (I like it very garlicy) 2 Tablespoon Tahini (sesame paste) 1/4 teaspoon of cumin splash of lemon juice 1/4 cup o4 more of olive oil paprika
In a food processor put in the chickpeas and garlic start pureeing then add olive oil and then the rest of the ingredients (except paprika)
Put in a nice dish drizzle some olive oil and sprinkle some paprika.
I don't usually measure i taste as I go...
Sometimes this may seem weird but i put a little mayo and it makes it smooth and airy.
Enjoy!

Re: Does anyone make their own hummus?
Thank you! Does anyone use a mortar & pestle instead of a food processor?

Too much work lol...but I do use that to crush the garlic and use a little salt to make a garlic paste...it really intensifies the taste of the garlic.

I do the same as well but I always use more lemon and leave out the cumin occasionally
