New Construction
Now that we are considering a new construction home - what are some questions you would ask during the process? So far we covered the town, school district, approximate taxes, lot size, estimated completion date, estimated pricing, the land itself (ie: flat, etc), location. What else would we need to know? TIA!

Re: New Construction
Are you using one of their pre-made plans, or having an architect make up plans from scratch? If you are using pre-made plans, can you make changes? How many, and how much will it cost?
Are they doing just the house, or the driveway, walkways, planting trees, etc?
Can you get solar panels installed during the construction?....

Re: New Construction
Thank you both for the info!
JLK - At what point in the process were your taxes assessed? This is one thing we are most worried about - they are giving us an estimate right now and we checked the neighborhood and taxes are comparable to what they told us - but we're still nervous about that!

Re: New Construction
It took almost 3 years to max out at what it is now! Dont go by the houses around you..I pay more than EVERYONE on our block! SUCKS..way too much for a 50x100 plot...
MY DH feels we should oay less..like a tax break for having the latest updated/energy conservation type stuff...but NOTHING!!!

Re: New Construction
Wow - that's scary! But I wonder if there is any way to find that out beforehand? Seems like there's not much you could do about it? Our lot is 85x200 - I'm scared to find out how much!!
