what do they do at the internals? i've been having them check my cervix for the past few weeks, is that all it is or is there more to it?

But don't they do that with the wand? (That's how they've been checking mine). Internals don't they do it by hand?

yes my internal was by hand. I thought his hand was going to come out my throat.

Mine started at 37-38 weeks, and he did it by hand.
It really wasn't that bad, I was in alot more pain with an internal I had at 26 weeks with the pre term labor!

the dr does it w/ his/her hand. ok, i was having internals and didnt even know it. IMO its not that bad. Uncomfortable, yes, but not as bad as i always thought it would be.

The wand just checks the length of your cervix (meaning is it thick or thinning out) You need a hand to do an internal to check for dilation.

I started mine around 36 wks. Two didnt hurt much at all, one hurt a lot and I was bleeding and one hurt somewhat and thats when my plug totally fell out and I went in to labor that night at the hospital (they were going to induce me the following day but clearly didnt have to)
