costs of IVF
insurances pay for IUI but don't for IVF? I have GHI and couldn't get DH to ask the questions I wanted from the insurance company.
Just encase I have to go this route I wanted to know how much out of pocket we will have to pay.
I have my second round of bloodwork on 5/18 and meet with my RE on 5/25
Thanks ladies.

Re: costs of IVF
I paid out of pocket using a shared risk plan where I paid upfront for 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles. If i didn't get pregnant at all I would have got back 80%. It was about $20,000. Each cycle would have been about $12,000. It is a little cheaper if you don't have to do ICSI.

Re: costs of IVF
Some insurance plans pay for just iui and some also have allowances for Ivf also. Some, like mine, have no Ivf coverage. I think it's in the $9000-$10,000 range.

Re: costs of IVF
are you in NY? check into the NYS grant. not sure if they are doing it again but i used it last year. ask your RE office about it. it will save you some $.
i've found IVF to range from $10k-$14k plus meds. IVF was not covered under my insurance but meds were so don't forget to check into that as well.

Re: costs of IVF
I have GHI and while I know that there are different plans, I thought most GHI plans covered IVF. I would ask about that. They usually will not cover it however until you have done a certain # of IUI's depending upon your age. You can also look into some free trials such as the free IVF trial at New Hope in the city.

Re: costs of IVF
I have GHI and have done an IVF cycle. My plan covers 3 lifetime IVF cycles at 75% percent. My out of pocket cost for one round was $1900 plus the co-pays for meds which amounted to about another $600.

Not up to GHI if IVF is covered but rather your company who makes the decision to add/not add a rider to cover infertility treatments.

Re: costs of IVF
thank you ladies for the feedback, I hope it doesn't come to having IVF. If DH knows the cost of this, he would say NO WAY.

Re: costs of IVF
I also have GHI & they covered 3 IVF cycles for me. They covered meds also. I just had co-pays but still spent alot of money through the year. (Thousands)
