new plan (with questions) semi-long
hi girls,
so after exactly 2 years of ttc, 3 losses and being with dr. b since november we decided it was time to get more aggressive! so far we've just been during O and hoping for the best! dr. b has me on metformin for insulin issues and synthroid for thyroid issues and the hope has been that when i do get preggo again, i wouldn't miscarry (now that these 2 things are under control). but, after months all this loss and all this time, DH and i needed to feel like we were doing more.
so this morning we met with dr. b and he agreed we should start IUI's. i'm VERY excited to be more aggressive but i'm also VERY VERY nervous about all the drugs. i guess i didn't anticipate that our first IUI would be with injectibles but since i only have one tube, dr. b felt this was the way to go.
i'll be taking the following drugs: femara, follistim, crinone, ovidrel and lovenox. the only ones i'm really scared of are the follistim and the lovenox since they involve needles i know i can do it (i think!) but as a girl who gets queasy putting earrings in, i'm so nervous!
if you do injectibles, can you please share your experiences with me? any tips i should know? also for the IUI itself....dr. b said it doesn't hurt and it's super quick. has that been your experiences as well?
all this is so new to me! i told dr b when he was explaining the process, "thank god i've been reading LIF for years or i would have NO idea what the heck you are talking about"
TIA

That's great! Sometimes it pays to push a little ;)
Ovidrel is not bad at all no hate needles and cringe when I do it but it's quick and it doesn't hurt.
My first iui didn't hurt at all and was over in about 30 seconds. The 2nd one, I had a lot of fluid but up and it hurt. Of course I made it worse bu tensing up.

its natural to be nervous about the meds. it would be weird if you werent!! you'll be FINE. the anticipation is so much worse than the actual injects.
good luck with the protocol!!

Re: new plan (with questions) semi-long
i'm so glad you have decided to be more aggressive! i think this will be such a good thing for you.
with one tube, injectibles are definitely the way to go because you will most definitely have a follicle on the side with the tube (i actually got pregnant with a follicle on the opposite side of the tube so anything is possible!!)
IUIs are very quick and easy. sometimes i would get a little cramping for like 5 seconds, sometimes not. it will feel similar to a pap.
as for the injections, take it one day at a time. the first few times, you will be nervous. but it will be okay. we have all made it through just fine. i was super nervous too, but i watched the video like 10 times (LOL) and was able to do it myself. trust me, you will do it and get through it just fine the lovenox was the worst for me, it burns a little. icing the area beforehand definitely helps!
good luck to you!!!

Re: new plan (with questions) semi-long
i used all the drugs you mentioned ( and still using half of them). Please do not be nervous, you will get used to them. IUIs are painless and quick. I think it is a great decision to do IUIs, they have higher chance. GL!
